I recently discovered the sounds of the Swedish folkartist Merit Hemmingson through a friend of mine. I found out that she´s been active in the folk-scene being a singer, composer and organist since the mid 50´s, . Although, she is mostly known for her records "Huuva! - svensk folkmusik på beat" and "Trollskog: mer svensk folkmusik på beat" which was released in the beginning of the 70´s. The records contains elements of swedish folk music combined with funky drums developing into groovy hammond inspired tracks, which I blew me away and I could imagine hearing somebody drop some verses on top of that. With that being said, I got a spontaneous idea to just see how it sounded if I´d try to throw in some acapellas from one of my favorite rap-groups: Slum Village!
It resulted in a double-tracker where we for a moment might get a chance to hear how it would sound if Merit Hemmingsson packed her instruments and paid a visit to the slums of Detroit.
